The photograph is classified vanitas. Emptiness. All is vanity. Life is meaningless, the plate is bare and everything is transient.
But the cherry pips are seeds, along with chile pepper, tomato and cucumber seeds. And seeds mean life and promise of tomorrow and the meaning of life, the meaning of today and tomorrow is the meaning you give it.
