A small potato is cooked in the microwave for 5 minutes then cut into pieces.
Olive oil and butter spread across the bottom of a wide pan covering the entire surface, garlic is added and you might think, goodness, that's too much fat for the potatoes to absorb. Even smashed in there pressed with a fork, there is still way too much oil. Then the mushrooms are added and they absorb all the oil like little sponges, all of it, and the flavor that was put in the pan is now distributed throughout.
A space created to fry an egg, boom, done.
