ARTS !
There was a dipping sauce if you can call a thing that complacent a sauce. I don't know what got into me. I almost didn't bother.
* soy sauce
* sugar
* water
The tempura batter is nearly as lazy. Plain white rice is processed to powder, about a single tablespoon, and combined with corn starch and regular whole wheat flour. So three types of dry ingredients where flour will work by itself just fine. The batter should be cold. If in doubt then add ice.
* whole egg whipped
* rice flour
* corn starch
* all purpose flour
* seasonings to suit your heart's contentment
* tonic water or soda water or baking powder and water or vinegar + water + baking soda, but watch it!, or you'll end up with foam.
A thin tempura batter is more desirable than a thick batter.
