Fig Newtons, gouda, apple

14" X 8"

Dough:
1.5 Cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder (tiny amount)

1 stick butter (1/4 LB) room temperature
1/3 cup sugar

cream sugar and butter

1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons orange juice (I added orange zest and it brightened it significantly.)

Mix.

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and form into dough (I included additional flour in increments because my dough was way too soft and wet. I chilled mine to firm the butter.)

Bake 350℉, 12 minutes.

This stuff is strong and tastes remarkably like the robusto, while the robusto seems more pale, as if they switched entire wheels. It could happen.
