The coconut is not shredded and not spun at high speed in the Cuisinart or the blender.
Rather, it's chopped to small pieces and passed through the juicer, a considerably longer process. Each piece dropped in separately.
Even the chopped pieces are broken and dropped in separately. And the husks are passed through twice. The sawdust-like husks are warm when they come out indicating the machine is straining.
Half way through the machine stops its windshield wiping action while the auger continues to push out husk powder. When the husk powder stops passing through the machine is briefly reversed, then run forward again and even more husk powder pushes out.
The coconut cream is tasted. It is not soapy.
The coconut water is run through the machine diluting the coconut cream
Then filtered water is run through that fairly doubles the amount to a quart. This cleans out the machine incompletely.
It is delightfully pure tasting.
I am drinking the whole quart all at once, and believe me, there is a lot of fat in this.
Usually I wash the parts with hot running water, but this time because of all the fat I used soap.
This coconut is one of four purchased from Sprouts. It's the best so far. The most water, no sign of fungus, and shell was the most difficult to break and the copra the most difficult to separate from the shell. A real workout, actually.
I bought four coconuts from two different King Soopers and all four had fungus.
I bought seven coconuts from the Asian market and two had fungus.
I bought two coconuts from Sprouts and this one is the best so far.
That's not including all the young coconuts about equal in number.
All those coconuts and only now am I discovering how to avoid the soap taste.
