The pierogi are boiled, not shown, gently in simmering water because the dough is so tender and the pierogi coated with flour create fortified bubbles that build and boil over as spaghetti tends to do so they are simmered and watched carefully and removed when they rise on their own to the surface. It is a magical moment that children enjoy.
