jacket potato in broth with beans and Serrano ham

I want a potato now!

And there went starvation right out the window. For now.

You might think how odd to put the lowly potato with the pinnacle of world class cured pork and and the pinnacle of world class hard cheese. But that attitude is affected by the potato's availability by its cheap cost by its baseness by it being a root and it omits how fine this vegetable is. Potatoes as base for meals don't get better than this, or they would. They started out as ridiculous little knobs on roots in the Andes and they're developed over centuries to these splendid robust large well formed and delicious specimens, reliably convenient. These are pinnacle potatoes and they're not to be dismissed for their ubiquity and their convenience. This meal is perfect.
