Fleming's restaurant, Denver, Colorado

French onion soup.

It is very good.

Jimmy, our waiter, said we can take the wine home if we didn't finish. This was news to us. He explained legislators lowered the standard for DWI which created a backlash from liquor license holders. Their point was they would be unable to ever sell bottles of wine with dinner. Pfffft, there goes much of their profit. Allowing bottles to be taken home is a compromise or perhaps a sop to the restauranteurs. That's what Jimmy said. And that's why I have 1/8 of a bottle of this pinot noir in the refrigerator.

Joe's filet ↑ had a mushroom sauce. Joe kept remarking how this is the best piece of meat he has ever tasted but I am certain that is only because he is temporarily forgetting the tenderloin sections that we cooked at my house around Easter last year when we rolled out the Big Green Egg. He's getting kind of up there, you know. He forgets.

My filet ↓ didn't come with mushroom sauce, but it did come with two lamb chops, and my filet was the best piece of meat that I've had since we rolled out the Big Green Egg last year around Easter and cooked two whole tenderloin sections.
